Video: THEESatisfaction - "QueenS"

Image
Apart from Azaelia Banks these are some other upcoming artists I have been listening to this year. Man, I just love me some late 80s afro-centric style. I think it's like my fav style, maybe that's why I have been interested in the group. Anyway, enjoy and look out for a review of their album soon. peace! "turn off your swag/and check you bag.."

VHP 1.2.0: Janet Jackson - Let's Wait A While

Sometimes it;s hard to believe this is a Janet Jackson song, because of the content of her later material. Nevertheless great song from her classic third 1986 album Control . Previously: Mos Def - Umi Says

Jean-Michel Basquiat : The Radiant Child (Trailer)

Director Tamra Davis pays homage to her friend in this definitive documentary but also delves into Basquiat as an iconoclast. His dense, bebop-influenced neoexpressionist work emerged while minimalist, conceptual art was the fad; as a successful black artist, he was constantly confronted by racism and misconceptions. I then randomly saw her video on YouTube, and I thought…well this is different. Some weeks later I read about her again and thought well, let me check her album out. And let me tell you I was not disappointed. She is in my opinion the most exciting artist to emerge on the scene in 2008, though she has previously been writing for the likes of Lilly Allen . You definitely cannot place her in the cookie cutter realm of R&B or pop even though she does pop. In fact in an interview she claimed that stereotyping her as a hiphop/R&B artist was racist. Her music is similar to that of M.I.A’s or Nelly Furtado but she has more than enough talent to stand out from those two. From dance to 80s pop to reggae to Fela Kuti, she draws from a wide variety of influences to create herself debut disc. Santogold (bo...
