This is from KenyanGospel.com On the night of 24th July 2008, gangsters stormed the home of K-Krew's frontman DJ Moz near Kianda School and made away with his DJ Turntables, mixers, TV, Radio, 5 Cell phones, shoes and clothes. Fortunately DJ Moz was not in the house at the time but his K-Krew right hand man Njugush (John Njuguna) was in the house together with Andy (a K-Krew volunteer) and Johnie (Kinijo) of the Stompers. Andy and Njugush were having a discussion as Johnie was practising with the DJ equipment. Speaking to KenyanGospel.com, Njugush explained that they were expecting DJ Moz in the house shortly and had not locked the door. Over 15 people armed with pangas (machettes), rungus (bats) and stones stormed the living area and hit Njugush with a plank of wood then started grabbing equipment. They also cut Kinijo on the lips and he was taken to hospital where he got some stitches. Continue reading here Remember to keep K-Krew in your prayers, and that they will recover and c

Have you heard about this?? I heard about it randomly, it doesn't seem to have been picked up by major news organizations yet. Hong Kong's English newspaper The South China Morning Post reported Friday that Chinese authorities have issued a secret ban on blacks, Mongolians and other "social undesirables" from Beijing's bars during the Olympics. As the content on South China Morning Post's site is for subscribers only, here is an excerpt of the article c/o the Beijing drinking blog Beijing Boyce : Beijing authorities are secretly planning to ban black people and others it considers social undesirables from entering the city's bars during the Olympic Games, a move that would contradict the official slogan, "One World, One Dream". Bar owners near the Workers' Stadium in central Beijing say they have been forced by Public Security Bureau officials to sign pledges agreeing not to let black people enter their premises.... Although for some reason the media and establishment have attempted to bury this story, some of us are determined to keep it alive.e I don't know about you, but when a whole Cabinet Minister admits on live TV to killing over 600 Kenyans in cold-blood, keeping silent should be unthinkable. So, join the facebook group and let's demand justice for those innocent Kenyans who were murdered for no reason. Why are we having a commission investigating the post-election violence when a minister has just confessed to like 90% of the killings? Isn't it weird that the same MP's who were demanding Kimuya's head on a platter are now silent on something much worse! Were they only hounding Kimunya for political reasons, why the inconsistency? Join the group here and let's demand some justice!
Who are the athletes to watch?

Okay, I have to admit I am not really feeling any excitement for the Olympics this year. Is it because the games are being held in China? Maybe, I'm not sure but Olympics fever just has not hit me in 2008, at least yet. I hardly even know any athletes that will be participating! So with 14days to go, I have attempted to pick some athletes to watch for the Beijing Games. Catherine Ndereba - Women's Marathon(Kenya) I love this woman, she's so cool, calm and collected. Go Kenya,go!! Asbel Kiprop - Men's 1500m (Kenya) Asafa Powell - Men's 100m (Jamaica) Will he disappoint again or will he receive glory? Muna Lee - Women's 100m (USA) Roger Federer - Men's Tennis (Switzerland) Marta Silva - Women's Soccer (Brazil) Usain Bolt - Men's 200m (Jamaica) Guo Jingjing - Women's Diving (China) What about you, which athletes will you be watching out for this summer? Who do you think are the favorites?

Why is the Ntimama confession being ignored?

Ntimama Watch - Day 1 Clearly...I am not the only one who has noticed something very fishy going on with the press, politicians and civil society who have totally buried and ignored the fact that a whole minister last week admitted on National Television to wiping out between 600 and 1000 Kenyan citizens. So today, I am starting a Ntimama Watch that will keep this issue alive until some action is taken on the minister either by parliament, the police, the President, PM or whoever. Parliament seemed so eager to take action former Finance Minister Amos Kimunya regarding the Grand Regency deal. Why the silence on this and the minister made a direct confession on National Television? If you did not see the confession, watch it here. So this is Day 1 of Ntimama Watch. we urge the Police Commissioner Hussein Ali to take action on this minister. Such impunity is unacceptable in modern day Africa. This is not the first time William Ole Ntimama has been accused of being part of tribal

Black people are interesting now?

CNN will be airing a series this week called Black in America on July 23rd & 24th at 9ET. The series will be hosted by Soledad O'Brien. Forgive me for being cynical, but why is the media all of a sudden interested in black life and the black experience? Is it just because Barack Obama is running for president, and they have realized that African-Americans are people with lives worth covering? American media hardly ever covers anything black related with any seriousness, why now? What say you, are the media genuinely interested in the black experience or is it just to stay relevant with the changes happening in America. Will you be watching it? Visit the website here

No, I don't mean the 1992 Tim Burton movie(which I think was the last great Batman movie.) I mean The Dark Knight , which I went to see yesterday, and maan what a good movie! Although I am not as big a comic book fan as I used to be as a child, I still have affection for the different superheroes. I have always been more of a DC Comics fan than Marvel , with Superman and Batman being probably my two favorite superheroes. I went to see Iron Man and I was disappointed in it(it had some good effects though) Well as for The Dark Knight I felt that they have finally gotten a Batman movie right! This is the way it should be done...conflicted,menacing,quick paced...and just down right..well dark! I think it may be the best Batman movie yet. Christopher Nolan did an excellent directorial job, and the late Heath Ledger steals the show portraying The Joker as just a psychotic criminal(a welcome relief from the gag-filled previous Jokers). I kind of noticed some political undertones

In my opinion one of the most amazing human beings to have ever lived, has turned 90 years old today! I am sure we all know, or have heard Nelson Mandela's story of his perseverance through oppression. Happy 90th Birthday Madiba! May God bless you with many more years with us.(I don't even want to contemplate ...you know?) You are one of Africa's greatest sons, and you are such an inspiration Mr.Mandela. For those of you who watched Hip Hop Colony you'll probably have realized what a talent Michael Wanguhu is. I saw HH Colony at a Filmfest(which I blogged about a while back ) and it far exceeded my expectations of what a Kenyan production can be(forgive my cynicism, I know we're trying). As someone who has followed Kenyan hip-hop since its beginnings around 1996, HHC felt like the perfect summary of how far we've come. In fact remind me to buy the DVD for my collection, its a must own! Anyway Michael now has a new DVD called Ni Wakati , and what else can be said but this is must see Kenyan TV! (It was recorded during Dead Prez's visit to Kenya.) trailer Description: Ni Wakati places the destiny of the future in the youth's hands. It's a passing of the revolutionary torch to the youth from the fore fathers. It shows how the revolutionary youth of Africa, utilizing Hip-hop have turned the Ghetto's into breeding ground of explosive talent in the art's a
