Africa, man up!

I like this song by Nneka called "Africans" ...and I agree with the lyrics too. It's time for Africa to man-up, period! No more excuses, they're boring now. Look at Kenya, its the year 2008 and we are still fighting each other over which tribe one is from and chasing out people not from "my" area. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know at this rate we won't have moved far in 50 years. And I don't want to here any "we're getting there" talk either, thats just excusing our obvious failures more.

AStar speaks on the Buzz article

Image
Astar spoke to mwafrika.com and clears up some misconceptions that may have been created from the article. (Read the article here ) Mwafrika.com: Let’s start with why you did the interview with Buzz in the first place. Astar: Why? Because I have a story to tell. I believe there are over a million young people who needed to hear what I have to say. I saw this as a moment to change this (edition of Buzz ) from a tabloid to an inspirational thing. For me, God has made it very clear that my strength is in telling my story – I have nothing to hide. M: Alright, how did the interview go? A: So I sat down with (Muchiri), and I was very direct with him. I told him the painful, but I also told him the other side. We talked about my life before Christ, and my life after Christ. But clearly, they were only interested in the juicy stuff. And sometimes the Jesus stuff is not juicy, to be honest. M: Specifically? A: (Going question by question) For example, why do you call yourself

You've got to love kids who are praising The Lord with so much energy! Bless them Matthew 19: 13 Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

Two Votaries videos!

Here are two great songs from Votaries ! First up is their energetic song "M.O.G" which stands for "Men Of God", which is a slogan I can definitely subscribe to. I like this song in that it just pumps you up and makes you want to stand up for God and not be ashamed of it. Next up is a very beautiful song featuring Micah called " Brevity." Enjoy!

Video: Esther Wahome - "Kuna Dawa"

O.K I know this song is not new and you've probably heard it a hundred times by now. But I just needed to post it for reference purposes and for the fact that it would just be wrong for it not to get it's on post entry. This is probably one of the most popular Gospel songs Kenya has ever seen. It would probably be comparable to "Stomp" by Kirk Franklin in the amount of crossover success it had. They were playing this songs in clubs full of drunk people for crying out loud! If that is not spreading the Gospel I don't know what is. I heard that this song pushed her album to around a million copies or something, though I could be corrected on that. Anyway, here is Esther Wahome with her brilliant song "Kuna Dawa." Enjoy!

Randa Randa recap....

Image
Mwafrika.com has a recap of Randa Randa 5.0. Randa Randa 5.0 took place over the long Madaraka Day weekend, taking approximately thirty people through various locations in the Coast Province. And this time it sure was different. From the moment the excited Sarova Taita Hills Lodge attendants received us, took our bags, served us complimentary cocktails and chauffeured us to luxurious rooms, we had a hint things were going to be pretty cozy. Previous Randa Randas had us hustling to pitch tents, often in the dead of night. And even though we thoroughly enjoyed tenting, living like a king never hurt anyone. A few top notch meals later, interspersed with fun times in the pool, some ridiculously hilarious outdoor games, not to mention a spattering of pool, darts, scrabble and table-tennis, it was off to the world class Sarova Salt-Lick Game Lodge. Famous for its altogether breathtakingly unique architecture and large elephant population, this lodge is nothing short of amazing. Read more he
