Video: Prophets Testimony

Prophet of P4CM shares his testimony.

Description: Many people know Prophet as one of the Movement's Official Poets (next to Blair WIngo), who has been traveling all over the country sharing his gift of poetry with the world - encouraging everyone to give their heart completely to our Lord Jesus Christ.

In this this video, Prophet shares his testimony and holds nothing back -- purposing in his heart that God WILL have the maximum glory from his life. He shares how God delivered him from a sexual addiction so in control of him (from the youthful age of 7) that it led to him having sex with crackhead prostitutes, contemplating rape and even to dabbling in homosexuality.

In exposing his most shameful life experiences, Prophet believes, and it's our prayer that after viewing this video "there will be hundreds and thousands of people who will be able to break thier addictions through Christ."

Cross Movement halts promotion of The Ambassador

Cross Movement Records released a statement today announcing that they will be dropping hiphop artist The Ambassador from their label due to some moral issues going on in his marriage.

Here's part of the statement released by CMR

Dear Body of Christ,
It is with much grief, severe disappointment
and an overwhelming fear of the Lord that Cross Movement Records is sad to
announce that we will be discontinuing the forwarding and promotion of the
Artist and Minister, The Ambassador AKA William “Duce” Branch, due to recent
findings of moral failure in his marriage. It is CMR’s past, current and
prayerfully, future position that living in moral compromise is unacceptable and
never allowable in the lives of any of the ministers that we co-labor
with.

The Kenyan "Hype"?

(Jim Chuchu)

Wondering who is the creative force behind all those stunning photos and videos from Just A Band, Atemi and more? Well I was too...until now. His name is Jim Chuchu and he is a 25 yr old Kenyan photographer and filmaker, he is also one of the members of Just A Band. That he is talented is not hard to see and what makes it even more fascinating is that he just picked up a camera in 2006! I think he is really taking Kenyan imagery to the next level and it may not be too early to refer to him as the "Kenyan Hype Williams." Don't be surprised to see artists and companies scrambling to work with him in the future.

Check out his website and his blog.

Go check out Just A Bands TRNSMSSN video exhibition at Goethe to see more of his work.

Conversation with P4CM's Blair Wingo

Here is an interview Rethink Magazine did with Passion 4 Christ Movement's Blair Wingo.

I stumbled upon the P4CM Ministry by "accident" but I'm glad I did. It's what some what term a radical ministry, but I happen to think safe conformist ministires are boring. I dont follow many ministries, because most of them don't challenge me and just tell us what we want to hear about how good we are, and making us feel safe even in our sin. The way I see it If youre going to preach The Gospel don't do it safely, rile up people through The Truth. If they hate you, let them hate you for Christ's sake.

You guys seem to approach ministry rather aggressively. However, it seems to be equally effective. What’s been the most challenging part of being so aggressive in pushing the message of Christ to the public?
Well in view of the people God used in the Scriptures I wouldn’t say that we are aggressive at all. I think some people may see it that way because the Gospel has been so watered down that when someone stands up to defend the cause of Christ it’s so far from what they may see regularly. However when we look into the Scriptures, even more specifically looking at the ministry of Christ Himself, we see Him taking bold stances all the time. He is often noted as having called the Pharisees “brood of vipers,” or His disciples an “unbelieving perverse generation,” and even told them that they could leave if they were not willing to side with His ways. [He] told many to give up everything to follow Him, and if they didn’t love Him more than their family members they were not worthy to serve Him.
A Scripture which comes to mind is Proverbs 28:1 which says, “the righteous are as bold as a lion.” What we are doing is walking in that boldness of Christ since we have been made righteous by faith. It takes a lot of trust in God to open up your mouth when God tells you to. We have to consistently refuse the desire to fear men. Although it is not

Video: Emcee Africa II

So you think you can rap?

The Kenyan battle of Emcees will be held at the British Council parking lot, Upperhill on Saturday, May 23rd starting at 7:00am in place of WAPI May.

The Channel O Emcee Africa tour sponsored by Sprite is a continent-wide search for the premier freestyle MC/Rapper. The motive of the tour is not only to find the illest freestyle MC, but to initiate international awareness of the 'street life' and surrounding social and cultural context of the localized music. In other words, the tour is attempting to better contextualize the application and reception of hip hop culture in each of the visited countries.

Never before has a continental Hip Hop reality based competition such as this existed.

The winner will receive $10,000, a video, and a song deal. Leslie 'Lee' Kasumba, a top hip hop radio DJ from South Africa's YFM station, is the host. She also corresponds for Africanhiphop.com and has been chosen to narrate her daily experiences of traveling on the tour in what has been coined 'the Battle Chronicles.'
Five countries will be taking part in this year's Africa’s rawest hip-hop talent competition:

Botswana (Fashion Lounge in Gabarone on 18 April)
South Africa (Roka Bar in Milpark on 25 April)
Ghana (Tantra in Accra on 7 May)
Nigeria (Insomnia Nightclub (Formerly Reloaded)in Lagos on 10 May) and
Kenya (WAPI, British Council, Upper Hill, in Nairobi on 23 May)

They will all be eyeing the ultimate crown during the 13-episode series.

Performance for starters - the ability to rock the crowd and display enough swagger with prepared lyrics to impress. The skill to freestyle on any topic over a popular banger will also score points. And, finally, whoever comes out tops in one-on-one battling will be en route to the finals.

Country eliminations will produce two finalists each from South Africa, Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya and then the judges hand over to the public to choose – through online and SMS voting.

Join Lee Kasumba and help discover Africa’s illest emcee make it to the top. And as Emcee Africa fans already know, the show is not just about who walks away with the bragging rights to being Africa’s number one emcee. Viewers and hiphop heads will also get a taste of the hip-hop scene in each of the five countries, meeting the hottest hip-hop producers, and the best hip-hop talents on the continent.

WP song snippet & album cover

Here's what I guess is the album cover of Washington Projects upcoming album Light Up The Dark.

And here is a song snippet of what should be their first single which is also the title track.

Washington Projects - "Light Up The Dark"

What do you think of the song? I don't know, I've never really been a fan of the whole vocal-effects resurgence. It used to be a novelty when done right but now it just seems like a gimmick. The thing is Rachel(the girl in the group) can really sing so I don't know why they felt they needed autotune, to go with what's hot now I guess. I'm just not feeling it, though I still have little doubt the album will be good.

Album should be dropping late 2009
